The Predator Series scent control!!!

10/31/2018

Being a long time hunter and specifically an archery hunter I am always OCD about scent control.  Everything from scent control clothing to sprays and cover scents, even the latest ozone masks.. and still, as every hunter knows you have to hunt the wind! Wind, wind, wind!

Even utilizing all the scent control components on the market I think all hunters agree that what we’re achieving is reducing our scent so we at least do not get busted by faint swirling winds and such.  Unfortunately, regardless of how OCD I am with scent control, nothing seemed to make that big of a difference until one small but very significant thing dawned on me… I work in an office all week!

I am a working hunter as most others are and on a daily basis I was using commercial deodorized soaps (detergent bars, actually) and only used scent control for my body during the evening or morning before I hunted.  Since I typically have a hike to my stands, of course causing me to sweat a little, I was sweating out those deodorized fragrances in commercial soaps that current scent control products don't really address.

It was that notion that brought me to develop a scent control system at the skin pore level.  I developed a formula that cleans your pores, naturally.. without chemicals.. and also provides an odor absorbing layer or body mask.  I aptly named this formula/bar the "Stealth Bar".  In addition, I developed another formula that provides a cover scent mask called "Mossy Soap".  Making the cover scent naturally and with adequate potency was a challenge because I wanted to use what surrounded me.  I took to the woods gathering up acorns, moss, foliage and bark.. and brought them back home.  I eventually found a way to extract these scents and concentrate them so they would be adequate for my product.

I was hoping to launch this scent control system earlier; however, I was determined to do appropriate testing!  Not so bad of a gig!!  At the beginning of this season I used the Stealth Bar all week! An all natural, scentless bar with loads of great skin conditioning properties.  Then come Friday morning I washed with the "Mossy Soap" which smells exactly like dirt and moss.  The winds were the typical one way this minute, the other the next so I figured time will tell.  It did!  Several groups of does passed directly downwind with no reaction!  I thought it might just be luck.  I’ve since been out several more times and have had even more profound experiences so I’m absolutely ecstatic I’ve stumbled upon something significant and thinking about it – it just made sense to make (non-scents) at the pore level.  It’s an entire level of scent control on its own and has been a greatly beneficial regimen to my already OCD scent control efforts.

So there it is – give a try and please give me some feedback because I’m dying to know if it helps others hunters as much as it helped me.

All natural ingredients made with beneficial oils for the skin and made for the working hunter by a working hunter. Lady of the Woods Skin Care Predator Series.

Gearing up for christmas

As with the nature of cold process soap making.. soap needs about a four week cure time.  This does several things but mostly allows the water to evaporate and the soap to harden appropriately.  We want to provide a fully cured product to our customers ensuring a consistent end weight, a good lather and a nice hard bar with lasting power.  So, we are taking this time now to prepare some fantastic products that will be ready for the Christmas holidays.  We will be offering gift cards also but for those of you that like to pick the gifts for a loved ones we are gearing up to offer some pretty sweet holiday inspired products, in addition, to many collections and sets that make for great gifts!  So keep your eyes peeled!  I will be posting on social media some sneak peeks as I am creating these amazing products and then adding them to the website as they become available for sale.  Some things to watch out for:  The Yeti bar and sweet orange fir bar are seen below. Still trying to come up with a name for the sweet orange fir bar.. it has shaped up to be one of my favorites so far!  Also, stay tuned for some jewelry filled bath bombs.. what a great gift!!

Our vendor show Debut

10/6/2018

Now that a few weeks have passed I'm able to reflect on our very first vendor show.  The mad rush leading up to the day and getting ready.  In addition to knocking out about 24 pies in the days leading up to the Hixon Bible Camp Festival there were some moments I didn't think I was going to be ready.  Truth be told, I wasn't planning to set up at my first vendor show until the end of October.  Maybe I should have stuck with that plan.. but, I'm glad I didn't.  The sleepless nights were worth their weight in gold.  Thanks to the support of a few good friends we pulled it off.. Lady of the Woods debut was, in my books a huge. success!
